Weird and vaguely disturbing in a culturally relativistic way. Recalls some of the Shirley Temple movies, like the one featured here at http://www.weirduniverse.net/blog/comments/war_babies/. I don't think that one would fly any more.

I'll agree with that. I've never watched it but the ads should be enough to warn of most sentient beings.
