The Cobweb Hotel

If this cartoon were a movie with a human cast, it would be more gruesome than the whole Saw franchise.

PPS -- the $24 is only the most recent. I pay him what I owe him every time we meet -- which is painfully not often.

Yes, Patty, I could afford to admit I have ingested some ethanol tonight. "In vino veritas." I cop to it. But I say this whether inebriated or not: Harlan Ellison is given a bad reputation by those who don't know him.

But regardless of how "dain bramaged" I pretend to be on this page, I love you all and I thank you for keeping me on an even keel. The universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we CAN imagine! (Was that Sir Arthur? Can't be!)

(Several "Sir Arthur's" -- I speak of Clarke but may mean Conan-Doyle --) (I was only honored to illustrate work by Dr. Clarke twice, never Conan-Doyle.)

Sorry, I need to tip a toast to my friends in Oz, Canada, the UK, the Ukraine, all of you in Iceland that can't hear me right now, the rest of the US and absent friends in unfriendly places watching out for all of us. May you live long and prosper.

(Tipping back a jug of very excellent "Quilter's Irish Death" microbrewery bheer from Iron Horse Brewery and taking a swig in many directions ... he proposes a toast!)

"Please, Ghod, don't let this whole phewking mess be simply over oil!"

(and even as he hits his lips to it, it turns to vinegar. BAD)

Patty, dearest, I can't figure out how to respond to a PM on this site. But I appreciate the WUvers enough to share thoughts: I enjoy ExPat's tales (saw a recent doc on the renovation of the Parthenon) and Chuck is GHOD, things don't get much weirder than in the "F" state unless they're somewhere else (and the UK seems to be a pretty entertaining close second), Paul and I may have some friends in common because we're both skiffy types --
but if you email me at doubleyou eh? ar-ar! EEE! en underscore duh!bya underscore are at yahoo dot com and include "WUVER" in the subject line, I might actually read it. You are one of the least harsh people on this page and among the most insightful and entertaining, I enjoy your comments a lot.

Sorry to everyone else, I enjoy the "harsh" comments a LOT, laughter is my daily cardiovascular workout -- but Patty makes my heart glow, too, and people need that.

All the best, always,
Bill

thank you bill, you are so sweet. 💋

You, too, Patty. But (maybe I'm just blind in the correct eye) I can't find anything resembling an "in box" on the site, and when I went to the "member list" and found you, I clicked on the "email" button and it said I am not permitted access. So whatever you're sending me via PM will just have to die there unappreciated. (sigh)

And Mario in Joysey -- thank you, too! And yer welcome!
